Hi TWiV Team.
It’s been awhile since I’ve sent in a question. But it’s not because I don’t love this show and appreciate so much the intelligent, direct conversations. I’m in southern California now where the temperature is constantly 37,°C. I can streak my plates and leave them on the coffee table without needing the oven. (I’m completely joking… about the plates, not the temp!)
My question is for Dr. Breitbart. I’m fascinated by the CRESS viruses you’ve found in spiders and insects. Have you or any of your students or associates determined how these viruses affect their hosts? Is there a spider flu? My other passion is immunology and would like to learn how the spider’s immune system flights off, or coexists with these viruses.
Thank you for so many podcasts in addition to teaching classes, reviewing papers, writing articles and trying to balance just being a human being.
