  1. This show harkens back to TWiV 697 and 700 where Rich defended Genomic Epidemiology as Science. These papers from Nerve tag are not science in the sense of Karl Popper but certainly are in the spirit of John Snow. It is fodder for further work.

The Stanley Plotkin article is inspirational. It reminds me of Maurice Hillieman. The Vaccinologists of our youth are heroes. Science was seen in those times as progress. We owe so much to those progressive women and families who offered up their own children for science.

The quote struck me from the Plotkin article.

“Our vaccine development has been remarkable. There are many reasons for doom and gloom, but the science is sustaining.”

Good stuff. We are lucky to live in these times in many ways.

Great show. Lots to think about here. Here’s to a declining cases, shots and jabs.

The Janet Iwasa lab animation mentioned at 17:48 is beautiful and can be found at https://insidecorona.net/sars-cov-2-entry-animation-from-iwasa-group-a-little-christmas-present-to-the-scientific-community/
