During the FDA VRBPAC meeting to decide on an EUA yesterday, two committee members asked at different times about whether it was possible for the modified mRNA in the Pfizer-BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine to be reverse transcribed by cellular or retroviral reverse transcriptases. The first time, the answer was that there was a very low probability of that happening (though not much further explanation), and the second time, the question was ignored. Could you please comment or bring on another expert next time to explain what exactly is known about this possibility? Would very much appreciate it as this has been very much on my mind since then.
