It strikes me that chewed and spit out food was almost certainly part of the transition from nursing to independent food consumption for infants well before civilization, and that ‘Virgins of the Sun’ were responsible for producing Chicha in ancient Ecuador could point to which segment of the human community was traditionally responsible for chewing food for infants.
