  1. In theory, could dupilimab (dupixent) which is a monoclonal antibody that binds IL-4Rα and inhibits signaling of both IL-4 and IL-13, make one’s case of COVID less bad?
Incidentally my son’s case of COVID was mild and he used his regularly scheduled shot of dupilimab while on approximately day 2 of COVID.

  2. Very nice, I especially enjoyed the quiet part at around 52ish minutes.

One of my favorite TWiV episodes of all time! So crucial to understanding the huge variance in individual response to SARS-CoV2 infections.
Brianne mentioned a study that was done to evaluate the presence of SNP’s in IL1 genes and how that could possibly point to how specific people have the uncontrolled inflammatory response that leads to severe Covid. Have yall reviewed this study? If not, it would be a great follow-up to this episode!

The smallpox paper is available now! Thanks Rich!

  5. Dear professors! I’m behind in listening, but even more behind in congratulating you for the 900th episode and the Ernst Lecture! With your mission to teach, teach you have as David and I continue to listen and learn. Honestly, I’m sure when Vincent delivered his lecture on herd immunity to a med school class years ago, I would have been one of the students gleefully moo-ing in the back row. Now, this virus stuff is serious business (like my surgeries), and we and our city and schools and businesses are grateful for you ALL. If it weren’t for TWiV, there’d be no way we would be on the paths we have taken. The TWiV (and Immune, and TWiEvo, and the rest) education we have received has been shared with the tens of thousands of people we advise, and I’m sure there are others like us as well. Your influence is enormous! One day we will see the live broadcast but for now enjoy your new and fabulous Incubator, and as always, see it can be done! Lisa Smith and David Bruce
