Hi Twievo team,
Îm an old time listener of Twiv series. I’ve stumbled on Twiv number 2 after summer 2008 when craving for microbiology was too strong and I was thinking to going back to public research.
You save me from grant hunting madness.
I’m working for Oxford Nanopore. So here a small update : record for one read is now 4MB, passing 99% accuracy in Raw read this year, Q45 consensus on human.
Scientists sequencing from home and some during bike (that was shark DNA) or subway trip home 🤣
Nick Lowman made an amazing job, with the ARTIC network for SARS-cov2 WGS. They repurposed their Ebola protocol ARTIC and now one MinION FLOWCELL allow 96 samples at 1000 to 4000X depht in less than 24h, for less than 20$ from snot sample to variant calling on WGS.
Due to their amazing job, Health worker are able to sequence high accuracy Sars-cov2, in low income countries, from 0 to viral WGS in a week.
Thanks to you all to bring my weekly doses of scientific geekiness
