Baltimore’s original scheme [Expression of animal virus genomes. Bacteriol Rev. 1971 Sep;35(3):235-41] omitted the gapped DNA genome which had not yet been discovered.

Thanks so much for going over this! I have a test in Virology tomorrow that covers this and your explanation helped it make more sense (despite the occasional mix-ups!) I've listened to your show from week one and it has heightened my interest in viruses.. and will hopefully help for the test!
