Subject: [wolf-common-room ] [in-memoriam] Sir Anthony Epstein (1921-2024)
It is with great sadness that the College has been informed of the death of Sir Anthony Epstein (1921-2024) who died after a very short illness in the early hours of Tuesday morning (6 February 2024) at the age of 102. Sir Anthony was an Extraordinary Fellow (1986-2001) and later Honorary Fellow (2001-2024) and his obituary is expected to appear in the Times in the next few days.
The College understands that there will be a small family funeral, perhaps followed by a memorial event for which the details are not yet known.
Further details, including arrangements for any messages of condolence, will follow in due course.
With all good wishes,
Luke Jackson-Ross | College Secretary
Wolfson College, University of Oxford

Hi Vincent, I’ve been a dedicated listener/watcher ever since I discovered Microbe TV. What a great educational and humanitarian service you provide. I’m watching your virology course episodes and although I have a degree in biology it was more than 40 years ago. I’m learning a lot.
I have a listener pick from the early 70’s for TWIV if you should happen to enjoy it. It’s a film called “Protein Synthesis: An Epic on the Cellular Level” and it’s a super fun “happening” from the early 70’s to illustrate what was known about protein synthesis at the time, introduced by Dr. Paul Berg.
