Daniel and Vincent,

Listed to your Clinical Updates for over two years and never missed a podcast. Thanks for the clarity and sanity provided.

Having come across this article, it was the first time I have seen this term. Seems to be lacking in data and mostly observational/anecdotal. Wonder if Dr. Griffin may have come across this.

Hi Dr. Griffin,

Would you give me your medical opinion on getting the XBB booster for a 65 yo woman (me!) with h/o breast cancer (remission), asthma, 2nd-degree heart block, Mobitiz 1 who is normotensive, non-diabetic, and not obese?

You, Dr. Racaniello, and the entire TWIV team have made the last 3+ years more tolerable and have made me feel more confident in communicating the science to people in my work with the Santa Cruz Public Health Department.

Thanks so much,

Jo

I really appreciate the responses from both Russ and Dr. Griffin re: the issues with Paxlovid and anti-arrythmic medications.  I have tried to find locations offering Redesivir in the Phoenix, AZ area, but that information does not appear to be readily available.  Am wondering how a lay person can find a location offering these infusions, or must one consult a physician to even find that out?  Thanks again!

Great show!

I am a family practice physician in Ohio.

On prior twiv episodes you commented that 3 COVID vaccines are sufficient for the general population. For patients over 65 or immune compromised what are the recommendations for them. I don’t want to recommend unnecessary vaccinations and would like data that additional covid boosters beyond the 3 are preventing morbidity and mortality if possible and not just increasing titers…..

also is there a new covid vaccine coming out in the fall? Should I wait to give additional boosters if there is a new one coming?

For measles can you clarify if checking immunity titers should be done for certain patients traveling? Or All people as we are seeing measles in the us.

Thanks for you time and wonderful show

Jen

Greetings. I’ve been listening to TWIV for several years, even before 2020 and Covid. I’m a chemist, not a virologist, so I don’t understand everything always, but I enjoy being challenged. I also appreciate the weekly medical updates. I was wondering if you could talk a bit about the shingles vaccine.

I just received my first dose and wanted to know your thoughts on it…or if Vincent can point me to a particular episode to review. I’ve known several people who have gotten shingles and it seemed to incapacitate them so I’m hoping to avoid it. I had chicken pox as a teen.

Sincerely,

Christina
