Hey, can you guys talk about the type 4 hypersensitivity reaction from the booster that some people are getting? I’m in a group on Facebook of almost 5k people that are suffering from ongoing hives that appear 8-14 days post injection. Mostly post-booster, but some have had it from 2nd vaccine, and have been dealing with itching for almost a year. Most of us are taking daily antihistamine, Xolair injections, or steroids.
Response from allergists, GPs, and dermatologists range from staunch disbelief to “oh, it’s from your booster, take this daily, and it’ll probably go away.”

We’re certainly not “antivaccine,” but many people are saying there’s no way they’ll get a 4th shot given their current circumstances.
I’d love to hear your thoughts!

  2. In this outstanding episode Alan (?) mentioned Paul Offit’s book “Vaccine”. Paul Offit has been an excellent guest on many TWiVs, so I wanted to get the book.

But it turns out he has written many books with “vaccine” in the title. Could you give me the name of the particular book mentioned?

  3. Just as things started looking – or rather sounding – ok, an episode like this comes along where Dickson is hardly audible, Brianne is whispering, Vincent is at an ok level and Rich is SCREAMING in comparison. Please don’t just hit record, stop, save and upload but adjust the recording some more other than adding intro and outro.
And by the way, what’s up with the release schedule? Why does the Tuesday recording take till the weekend to get released? And then we are kind of bombarded with an entire weeks of TWiV in two days. But even the Sunday 6 am CET is more and more missed.
The talking over each other was pretty prevalent in this episode too, where two or more people start talking simultaneously, stop, start again, several times until an order is figured out. Again, I have the impression this phenomenon did not appear as often when this used to be an audio only podcast, but I’m pretty sure you will not go back to that anymore.
Oh, I’m not sure, but you might have missed saying the institution the second paper is from, only first and last author.

The relation of EBV and MS may also be supported by the fact the exacerbations of MS symptoms could be caused be the release of latent EBV virus from its hiding place in the nucleus of the cell.
