It’s been a while since I’ve written in, partly because I’ve fallen behind in my listening (sorry!). However, when I heard about Ian Lipkin being on episode 384, and in particular the bit about the “documentary” Vaxxed, I just had to listen. Some of your listeners might be interested in some more write-ups on the topic, so I thought I’d share them with you.
Matt Carey, at the blog Left Brain Right Brain, has written quite a bit about the alleged cover up, including getting copies of the documents that William Thompson provided to Rep. Bill Posey (analysis and link to the documents can be found here: https://leftbrainrightbrain.co.uk/2016/01/04/the-william-thompson-documents-theres-no-whistle-to-blow/). After the trailer was released, he noted some shady editing going on (see https://leftbrainrightbrain.co.uk/2016/03/22/andrew-wakefield-releases-the-trailer-for-his-william-thompson-video-slick-production-and-dishonesty/).
Orac, at the blog Respectful Insolence, has also written a number of posts about the film. And while I haven’t yet seen the film, I did come across a photo of some “demands” made at the end of the movie. Hope you don’t mind if I shamelessly plug my post on it (http://www.harpocratesspeaks.com/2016/04/wakefields-vaxxed-demands-less-safety.html).
Finally, journalist Anna Merlan (@annamerlan), who was on the ConspiraSea Cruise that featured Andrew Wakefield, also attended a showing of the film, live-tweeting the experience. Listeners should check out her tweets.
Looking forward to your further discussion on this with the folks from Johns Hopkins.
P.S. I’d like to submit a pick, as well: the British TV series Doc Martin. They’ve handled a number of plot lines involving medical pseudoscience very nicely.
It is especially cool when the Hurricanes bear down on us and it goes well with Bourbon. I’ll project this onto my house at night and watch it from my beach chair.
Love your show!
